W J "Bill" Hodge is the current elected Clerk of Court for Ouachita Parish.  He was elected Clerk of Court on July 1, 1988 and has served in that capacity since that date.  He began his employment with the Clerk's Office in August, 1968 while serving as a Deputy Clerk.  In 1974, Mr. Hodge was sworn in as Chief Deputy Clerk of Court.

As Clerk of Court, Mr. Hodge believes his job to be very gratifying.  Serving the public makes for an interesting work day, especially since so many people have so many different problems - some of which can be solved at his office.  Each day presents itself in a different way - each with sometimes more challenges than others.

Mr. Hodge has seen his office thrive in both good and bad times economically.  He has worked to provide the citizens of Ouachita Parish a Clerk's Office of which they can be proud.  He is delighted to provide services with a staff of knowledgeable and informed Deputy Clerks that can assist every citizen with information retained by his office.  Also, he has been able to keep up with technology in providing computerized indices to all records as filed in his office.

Mr. Hodge would like to point out that NO TAX MONEY is provided for the operations of this office.  The salaries and expenses are paid from the monies collected for recordings, copies and services rendered.  All fees are established by statute and the Louisiana State Legislature.
